22/07/08July 22, 2008

India’s government has survived a key vote of confidence in parliament. Tuesday's vote came after the left parties withdrew their support from the government in protest against a controversial civilian nuclear deal with the US. However the vote turned out to be highly dramatic affair after some opposition lawmakers interrupted the session and waved bundles of cash that they said had been offered as bribes to vote for the government.
