Clock from dominos

If your house is in need of a new, unique timepiece, this modern clock from domios is right up your alley. DIY expert Sari Hansen shows you how to make it yourself. So pay close attention!

DIY: Domino Clock

You need

  • a plywood board. This one is 40 cm by 40 cm. You can get it at the hardware store.
  • a round object, You can use an old sheet metal. 
  • 12 dominos in the color of your choice
  • a clock movement. You can order it on the internet
  • a brush and some paint.
  • a jigsaw
  • sandpaper
  • a cordless drill and a 6 mm wood drill bit 
  • and a hot glue gun

 

Instructions

First draw a circle on your plywood board.

Then saw out the circle with the jigsaw.

Smooth the edges with the sandpaper.

Apply the paint with a brush.

Also brush the outer edges.

Let the paint dry.

Measure the hole in the middle of the board and drill it.

Now put the dominos in order.

Use a ruler to measure the distances between the pieces. For example leave some 3 centimetres between each piece and one and a half centimetres to the outer edge.

Mark the positions of the dominos with a pencil.

The pieces can now be fixed in place with the hot glue gun. Finally, attach the movement.

 

Good to know
You can also give the clock a different shape by sawing a square or hexagonal.
