The "art Karlsruhe" International Fair for Modern Art kicks off on Thursday for the first time. Some 100 galleries from nine countries will be presenting work ranging from classic modernism to contemporary art at Karlsruhe's spacious new exhibition halls. Exhibitors include the Museum of Modern Art, Kabul and the Nez-a-Nez project from Seoul. The event marks the first time Karlsruhe trade fair company KMK has organized a fair for modern art -- in cooperation with gallery owner Ewald Karl Schrade, who will be serving both as curator and project manager. The company says it's expecting up to 17,000 visitors. The events runs until March 7.
