International donors meeting in Brussels pledge billions for Georgia (22.10.2008) je 18

Daniel SteadOctober 22, 2008

Western donors have been meeting today in Brussels to pledge aid for the former Soviet republic of Georgia. Parts of the country were heavily damaged during the war with Russia this summer. Western governments and international bodies promised more than expected, some 4 point 5 billion euros. The aid is intended to help resettle nearly 65,000 refugees whose homes were destroyed during the fighting, as well as to rebuild the country's economy and infrastructure.
