Intimidation of Journalists Increases in Asia

When it comes to defending freedom of expression, public officials across the world are guilty of “impotence, cowardice, and duplicity.” That’s what the Paris-based NGO Reporters without Borders argues in its annual report. Journalists face a particularly dangerous situation on the continent of Asia, where in 2007 alone, 17 Asian journalists were killed, and over 600 were assaulted or threatened.
