Officials in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia said Monday they have opened probes into more than a dozen suspected Islamic extremists with ties to the King Fahd Academy in Bonn, a private, Saudi-funded school that has been under investigation for alleged fundamentalist teachings. However, officials said the inflow of radical elements to the school and its adjoining mosque had been disrupted as a result of an ongoing probe. "The situation has been defused," a spokeswoman for the state's interior ministry said.
