For a long time it seemed unthinkable, but now it's true. Dortmund favorite Kuba has left BVB to join Wolfsburg ahead of the new season. The Poland star has moved in the hope of more first-team football.

Wolfsburg have signed Jakub Blaszczykowski from Borussia Dortmund on a three-year contract. The Polish international joins for a reported fee of 4 million euros off the back of a season-long loan with Fiorentina where he made 15 appearances.

Deemed surplus to requirements by head coach Thomas Tuchel, Kuba (Wolfsburg's sixth signing of the summer) fills a void left by Andre Schürrle who joined Dortmund under two weeks ago.

"Jakub Blaszczykowski is a player that can do any team good – not just due to his footballing qualities, but also because he is a prime example of determination, willingness and passion, who always identifies with his clubs to 100%," sporting director Klaus Allofs told the official Wolfsburg website.

Blaszczykowski endured a difficult time with injuries during his spell in Italy with a number of setbacks forcing the 30-year-old to sit out 12 matches.

This brings an end to a nine-year spell at Borussia Dortmund for the much-loved winger.
