Germany's top cyclist and erstwhile Tour de France winner, Jan Ullrich, is returning to his old employer, Team Telekom. It means the 29-year-old will leave the German-Italian Bianchi Team after only a handful of starts for them. Ullrich had celebrated a sensational comeback to top competition with his second place in this year's Tour de France for the Bianchi team. He left Team Telekom after a series of highly publicized escapades including a drugs ban after he admitted to having used ecstasy. He is thought to have agreed to the return after his adviser, Rudy Pevenage, made peace with the Telekom Manager Wlather Godefrot. Pevenage had been at loggerheads with Telekom ever since he abandoned the team in mid-season this summer to join up with the cyclist. Ullrich had been Telekom's number one rider from 1995 to 2002 before parting ways.
