Jazz live 2015 Ulita Knaus eng

The German magazine "Stern" calls this combo "jazz for people who actually don't listen to jazz but are looking for good new music." In this podcast, you can hear a singer of many moods in a live performance.

A vocalist of melancholy and humor, Ulita Knaus often has very personal messages - and music in her blood. Her father was a singer, and she began taking piano lessons at age six. She was fond of Mozart, and like him, she began composing during her childhood.

Growing up with pop music, Knaus later studied jazz vocals in the Dutch city of Hilversum. Her career began in Hamburg, Germany, as a backup singer for German rock star Udo Lindenberg and others. In 2009 she won the Hamburg Jazz Prize. In this concert from the Jazzfest Bonn, Ulita Knaus performs songs from her album "The Moon On My Doorstep," accompanied on piano by Tino Derado and on percussion by Tupac Mantilla.
