Looking Back on Recent Nepalese History

The civil war in Nepal lasted for 10 long years -- from 1996 to 2006. Both sides, the Royal Nepalese army and the Maoist rebels, committed atrocities against civilians. Since, the former Maoist insurgents have been elected to government, the king has lost his throne and a new constitution is being written. The atrocities of the past are taboo.
