The Lufthansa Group plans to cut around 2,000 jobs in Germany next year. Lufthansa Building Management and Cargo will loose 200 and 100 jobs respectively. The group recorded an operating profit of €183 million for the second quarter of 2003, but total losses of €119 million for the first half of the year (2002: plus €415 million). In a press release Lufthansa said it was still suffering from the effects of the SARS outbreak and the Iraq war. Some 94,000 people work for the group worldwide.
