According to a World Bank Urban Development Series report, Africa currently produces some 70 million tons of waste annually. But by no means all of it is collected - which leads to pollution and the spread of disease. Firmin Makaya decided to tackle the problem in the West African country of Gabon by setting up a small company that collects and, where possible, recycles household waste.
