Bayern Munich confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that Neuer, in his fifth season with the club, has signed a new five-year deal running through 2021.

"I feel very comfortable at Bayern and I am happy we have got everything sorted out," Neuer said as part of the statement. "We are in the running for a few trophies and have a great chance to achieve a lot this year. That is our goal in the short term but also in the coming years. I look forward to the future at Bayern."

Neuer becomes the fourth player Bayern have extended with until 2021, following contract renewals for David Alaba, Jerome Boateng Javi Martinez and Thomas Müller earlier this season. The goalkeeper's new deal also makes him the seventh Bayern player to sign a new contract this season, with Spaniards Xabi Alonso and Thiago Alcantara also signing new deals.

"He is the best goalkeeper in the world and we are very pleased with his performances," Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said in the statement. "Manuel is so dependable in goal and we are lucky that he has decided to stay and Bayern and sign a new deal."

German tabloid “Bild” is reporting Neuer is now one of the top earners at Bayern. The publication claims Neuer's new wage will be in the region of 15 million euros per year.

In his time with Bayern, Neuer has won three Bundesliga titles, two German Cups, a UEFA Champions League and a FIFA World Cup. He was also the first goalkeeper since Oliver Kahn to be shortlisted for FIFA's World Footballer of the Year award.
