McDonalds Opens Pizza Chain in Germany

The market for fresh-baked pizza grew a little more crowded on Wednesday with the opening of McDonalds first "Donatos" restaurant in Germany. The Munich-based Donatos is the first restaurant opened by McDonalds in Germany not to carry the company's traditional brand name. For the past decade, McDonalds has sought to expand its business with new franchise brands -- including the Donatos pizzateria, Boston Market and the Chipotle Grill Mexican restaurants. McDonalds says it plans to open 200 Donatos in Germany in the next three years, presenting the first major challenge to Pizza Hut's dominance in the German pizza market.
