Victims and survivors of the Ramstein air show disaster came together on Thursday to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the accident. On August 28, 1988, over 300,000 spectators had come to the U.S. Air Force base in Ramstein, Germany to watch the air show. During a stunt by Italy's acrobatic air squadron "Frecce Tricolori," three jets collided, sending one into the crowd. 70 people were killed and over 400 injured. Many visitors still suffer from the emotional damage, said Hartmut and Sybille Jatzko, founders of the Ramstein self-help group. Relatives also travelled to a memorial site in Rimini, Italy on Thursday, where the wreckage of the three destroyed Italian jets are kept. “The pilots also had families that mourn them,” the Jatzkos explained.
