Governments in Asia are considering sending additional naval forces to the Gulf of Aden to join an international anti-piracy mission. This comes as reported incidents of piracy off the coast of Somalia are on the increase. India says it has sunk a pirate ship in the area. Delhi said an Indian frigate was involved in a brief battle with Somali pirates on Tuesday.. and the Somali vessel was destroyed. Pirates have seized two more ships passing through the Gulf of Aden, an Iranian grain vessel and a fishing boat from Thailand. Pirates are also holding a Saudi supertanker with 100 million dollars worth of oil.
