More Time to Party in Frankfurt/Oder

Barkeepers and storeowners in Frankfurt/Oder will be allowed to stay open longer during the festivities marking Poland's entry into the European Union on May 1. The German city, located on the border to Poland, announced Friday it would allow pubs to serve their guests until 3 a.m. between April 30 and May 2. Retailers could open their shops on the first, which is actually a public holiday, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. EU expansion is being celebrated on both sides of the Oder River, which divides Germany and Poland.
