Multiple dead in rural Ohio shooting

The shooting took place on Friday in four locations near the town of Peebles, approximately 75 miles (120 kilometers) east of Cincinnati, Ohio. Three children - a 4-day-old, a 6-month-old and a 3-year-old - survived the shooting.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said authorities believed the killer was still at large, with no indications that any of the dead had killed themselves. The FBI office in Ohio offered assistance to local authorities, and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation sent 12 investigators to the scene, a spokeswoman said.

Sherriff Charles Reader said on Friday that there was a "strong" possibility the perpetrator or perpetrators were "armed and extremely dangerous."

"We are sending everybody," a spokesman for Ohio's Bureau of Criminal Investigation told local news station WLWT. Aerial footage of the main crime scene at a local residence showed numerous ambulances, local sheriff cars and state investigator vehicles parked on the roadside.

Republican presidential candidate and Ohio Governor John Kasich called the shooting "tragic beyond comprehension."

"We'll find them, we'll catch them and they'll be brought to justice," Kasich said of the perpetrators.

In response to the shooting, a local high school and elementary school initially went into lockdown, not allowing any person in or out of the building. The schools later reopened.
