Musharraf’s ‘Impeachment’ Process Begins

11/08/08August 11, 2008

Proceedings have begun in Pakistan to impeach President Musharraf. On Monday, the assembly in the biggest province of Punjab passed a resolution with more than two-thirds majority to endorse impeachment. A number of lawmakers from Musharraf’s own party supported the bid. The ruling coalition is planning to build up pressure through the provincial assemblies before seeking the necessary two-thirds majority in a joint sitting of both houses of parliament.
