Nepal is Set For Historic Change

The new constituent assembly is sweeping away the 240-year-old monarchy and declaring the Himalayan kingdom to be a republic. But even as thousands gather to celebrate Nepal’s first “Republic Day”, last minute jockeying among political leaders such as Maoist chairman Prachanda and veteran Congress leader G.P. Koirala for places and positions in the new political landscape is causing headaches.
