The 2023 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Moungi Bawendi, Louis Brus and Alexei Ekimov for their pioneering work on tiny clusters of atoms known as quantum dots. The three US-based scientists laid the groundwork for many technologies in use today.
