North Korea: Diplomacy or war?

Markus Kaim is security and defense expert and senior fellow at the German Institute "Wissenschaft und Politik" in Berlin. He says: "Beyond the rhetoric escalation, there is a deep helplessness - not only in the US - how North Korea can be dissuaded from the development of its nuclear program."

 

Erik Kirschbaum is a freelance journalist who works for the LA Times. He says: "Trump may be trying to shake up the dynamics of the Korean problem while trying to excite his supporters at home. But he is scaring half the world with his words."

 

Dahye Yim works for the Korea communication and research center in Berlin. She grew partly up in the US and studied in Korea and she says: "Sanctions against North Korea have not been a solution so far. Other strategies should be devised in a step-by-step way for peace settlement."
