The district attorney's office in Mannheim has charged notorious German neo-Nazi and Holocaust denier Ernst Zündel with 14 counts of inciting racial hatred. The 66-year-old is accused of denying and playing down the Nazis' genocide of the Jews on the Internet and other publications. He is also charged with stirring up anti-Semitic hatred. Zündel is a well-known figure in the right-wing scene. Canada, where he had lived since 1958, extradited him to Germany in March to face a court in his native country. Zündel had previously spent two years in a Toronto jail after his Web site was declared unconstitutional. Since his arrival in Germany he has been held in pre-trial detention.
