In what could become Germany's biggest serial killer case since World War II, a male nurse working in a hospital in the Bavarian spa town of Sonthofen might have deliberately killed up to 80 patients, German police officials announced on Thursday, according to Reuters newsagency. The 25-year-old man, who was arrested last week, has already admitted to killing 10 elderly patients by injecting them with tranquilizers and muscle relaxants, saying that he could not bear the sight of them "wasting away" in pain, officials said. While there is no clear evidence that the man killed 80 people, the quantity of missing drugs has led to the police expanding the investigation and ordering bodies to be exhumed.
