Officials Consider Simpler Tax Rules

Germany's government and the main opposition Christian Democratic Union said they are willing to talk about plans to simplify the tax system next year. “It would be a fantastic signal to have a simple tax system in Germany,” Economics Minister Wolfgang Clement said on ARD television. He said the tax system is “undemocratic,” as no average citizen can understand it. “That has to be changed and we are ready to do so,” he told the German public broadcaster.
