The shooting in Tennessee occurred late on Thursday, just before 11 p.m. local time. According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police, it appeared to have stemmed from a dispute over a dice game in an outdoor courtyard.

The three victims were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment. One of them died. The investigations are underway. It was unclear if a suspect was in custody.

Earlier this month, three people were shot and wounded during a large house party near the Tennessee State University campus.

These incidents came amid a string of gun violence at or near several US schools in October. These included deadly incidents on the campus of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff and near Texas Southern University in Houston.

A 20-year-old heavily armed gunman killed at least nine people at a community college in Oregon on October 1, an incident ranked among the deadliest US mass shootings in the past two years.
