Before it opens to the public, the largest car exhibition in the world, the Paris Autosalon, or Mondial de L’Automobile, opens its doors to the industry. Set to host 60 world premieres, the focus of the event is on French manufacturers, but some 500 international brands will be represented at the trade fair. The 2004 fair has been tipped to mark a turning point in the industry. After a sluggish performance for the car market in 2004, experts say they expect an upturn by next spring. The Paris trade fair is considered the biggest of its kind in the industry, overshadowing the Geneva trade fair in spring, which showcases more niche brands.
