Philipines Gov't and Militants on Path to Peace

In the Philippines, the government says there has been a breakthrough in negotiations with the country’s biggest militant group, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, which is based on the southern island of Mindanao. Formal peace talks are expected to begin soon, officials say. Earlier this week, negotiators from both sides, meeting in Malaysia, agreed to establish a so-called “ancestral homeland” for Muslims.
