A man was killed by a pipe bomb in a residential area in the southern German town of Barbing Friday in what police said seemed to be a failed attack on another person. Authorities said they believe the German victim, 67, was trying to kill a 66-year-old man of German-Turkish nationality when the bomb went off in front of the intended target's house overnight. Investigators from the Bavarian state police found two unexploded bombs on the terrace of the German-Turk's home and one in the garage of the would-be attacker in the nearby state capital Munich. Police had earlier ruled out a terrorist motive but said they were probing a possible racist backdrop to the case. Authorities evacuated more than 1,000 Residents in Barbing when they discovered the other explosives after the blast. One of the bombs was destroyed in a controlled explosion where it was found. Seven buildings in Munich were also cleared during the search.
