Service was interrupted for hours on Wednesday at close to 5,000 post offices in Germany as employees met to protest against management plans to cut costs and save money. The service sector union Ver.di organized the mini-strikes in response to reports that Deutsche Post intends to cut 3,600 jobs. The move came as Post announced it would close around 1,000 of its 13,000 branches throughout Germany.
