North Korea said on Friday that all agreements would be nullified, including one covering their Yellow Sea border, known as the Northern Limit Line (NLL).

Relations between the Koreas strained ever since South Korea’s President Lee Myung- Bak took office a year ago.

Unlike his liberal predecessors, Lee has cut back a lot of financial support that was made to North Korea in the past.

A South Korean ministry spokesman said there have been no unusual activities since the announcement but the South's military has stepped up its monitoring along the border.
