Race car drivers used to just have to be fast, but nowadays that is no longer enough. Now they have to have a range of talents, including fitness, team spirit and the ability to deal efficiently with the media. Near the Austrian capital Vienna, 18 drivers under the age of 23 had the opportunity to prove their skills in a variety of tests as they tried to win a spot at the Young Driver Excellence Academy of the FIA Institute. After three days of training, the drivers went head-to-head in a knockout competition. In the end, twelve of them advanced to the next stage of the academy.
