Readers Agree with Germany on Troop Deployment

Question: Should Germany sent troops to Afghanistan's volatile south?

Why should they send troops in to clean up America's mess? Why should even American soldiers go? I heartily agree with the American general Smedley Darlington Butler who said: "We would see much less war, if any, if the rulers -- big politicians, corporate executives and banking employees -- would have to go themselves or send in their children and relatives to grab the oil and other coveted resources." Instead they are deceiving the public and tricking them to fight their dirty wars by making up stories like the war against terrorism, the threat of weapons of mass destruction and the advancement of democracy. Northern Afghanistan is a safe area where Germany troops can help reconstruct Afghanistan. German have role in keeping peace in the International community but in southern Afghanistan there is no peace. -- Calist B.Tesha, Tanzania

Why should Germany or any other country suffer for the miscalculations of the Bush Administration? Had America not dissipated its military strength by the foolish invasion of Iraq, US and the current NATO forces would be adequate for the entire region. -- Ronald Frost, USA
