Former Dio bass player passes away

The Scottish metal bassist of 1980s metal band Dio and Rainbow has passed away this weekend, bandmates confirm. Fans and friends mourn the rock musician's passing.
Bain, best known for his work with 1980s power rockers Dio and the 1970s act Rainbow, died suddenly over the weekend, a bandmate confirmed on social media this weekend.
"He was a very kind and gentle and generous soul and our lives were greatly enriched for having known him" Campbell added. "We will continue to celebrate his life through his music."

"It's with the heaviest of hearts that I must confirm the news of the passing of our dear friend and Last In Line band-mate, Jimmy Bain," Vivian Campbell, a guitarist who first performed with Bain in the group Dio in the 1980s, wrote on his Facebook page.
Details about the death of the Scotland-born rocker who later moved to Canada in his teens remains scant. But tributes continue to pour in.
American drummer Matt Sorum, formerly of Guns 'N Roses and Welsh guitarist Phil Campbell of Motörhead, each lamented Bain's passing on Twitter.
More recently Bain had been playing with former Dio bandmates in a new band called Last in Line. The band was scheduled to play on a cruise ship with Def Leppard this week; it's unclear whether Bain was aboard the vessel when he died.
