Around 100,00 are expected at Nürburg's Rock am Ring festival, one of Germany’s biggest summer jams in the picturesque hills south of Cologne. Badly Drawn Boy, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Marilyn Mason and Stereophonics will join Sum 41, The Cardigans, The Hives, Iron Maiden, Dandy Warhols and Moby at the festival which takes place at the Formula 1 track stadium.Tickets: €99 – €120, includes parking and camping fee. Rock im Park, Nuremberg Frankenstadion6th - 8th June
About 500 kilometers away in the Bavarian city of Nuremberg, Rock am Ring’s sister festival takes place at the same time at Nuremberg’s Frankenstadion. The venue has 80,000 capacity and features the same big-name band line-up.

Berlinova, Luckau, near Berlin
14th – 15th June
Some 10,000 are expected in Luckau for this year’s Berlinova festival. For around €30 you can get to see the likes of Tricky, Olli Schulz, DJ J.A.N, The streets, and The Aim of Design is to Define Space.

Hurricane, Scheeßel, near Bremen
20th – 22nd June
Big British and U.S. acts including Asian Dub foundation, Coldplay, Radiohead, Counting crows, Starsailer, and Massive Attack will be playing Hurricane festival in Scheeßel at the end of June. Bjork will also perform at the festival which has room for 40,000.

Southside Festival, Neuhausen, near Lake Constance
20th – 22nd June
Asian Dub Foundation, Counting Crows, Goldfrapp, Radiohead, Underworld, Therapy, Supergrass, Guano Apes and Moloko will be playing the Southside Festival at the end of June. Around 40,000 are expected to attend.

Rheinkultur, Bonn – Rheinaue28th June
Grand agent, Boysetfire, Home improvement, Summer’s Last Regret, Underdog, Noisy Stylus and Sport Freunde Stiller are all on stage at this year’s Rheinkultur festival in Germany's former capital.

Summer Jam, Cologne4th – 6th July
D-flame and K.P. Crew, Israel Vibration, Toots and the Maytals and the Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra will all perform at Cologne’s Summer Jam at the start of July. The Shanghai Circus will stop in from Copenhagen and visitors can sample food from all over the world.

Haldern Open Air, Rees-Haldern, Dutch-German border8th – 9th August
Aqualung, Dead Man Ray, The Cardigans, The Libertines, Kasmir and The Raveonettes will all be performing in Rees-Haldern for the Haldern Open Air festival taking place this August. Around 7,000 are expected to attend the two-day event.

Highfield, Erfurt15th – 17th August
Beck, Die Happy, Placebo, Wir Sind Helden and Paradise Lost are among the acts at Erfurt’s Highfield festival which takes place mid-August. Some 20,000 are expected to pitch up for the event.

Ringfest, Cologne
15th-17th August
At the end of the music industry and trade fair, PopKomm, some two million music fans descend on the city for what's dubbed the world's largest music festival. This year some 450 bands from 27 countries are expected to play at 37 locations throughout the city. The exact line-up is not yet available.
