Welcome back: The Bali summit on climate change has begun in earnest. Participants from both rich and poor nations will try to hammer out a replacement for the Kyoto agreements which are due to expire in 2012. The principle aim remains the same: reducing the greenhouse gas emissions that cause rising temperatures and climate change. One of the fundamental issues is that industrialised nations do most of the damage, while developing nations are expected to bear most of the consequences. The host nation, Indonesia, is one of these: its capital city, Jakarta, home to 18 million people, is gradually sinking into the sea:
