German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder will hold talks with US President George W. Bush during a visit to Washington on June 27, the official government spokesman confirmed on Friday. The two leaders will discuss "the international situation," spokesman Bela Anda said. Schröder will also make a speech to the Washington Chamber of Commerce during his four-day visit to the United States from June 26 to June 29. After Washington, he will visit the San Francisco area although details were still being finalized. Ties between Washington and Berlin were strained over Germany's opposition to the US-led Iraq war. Schröder's last visit to the White House was in Feb. 2004, but the two leaders held discussions in February this year when Bush came to the German city of Mainz during a European tour.
