Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic died on Wednesday after being shot in an attack in Belgrade, independent radio B92 reported, quoting unofficial sources from his cabinet.

There was no official confirmation of the report.

The radio said the Serbian government met in emergency session, and was expected to issue a statement soon.

Djindjic, 50, was taken to hospital after being hit with two
bullets in the stomach and the back outside government offices in Belgrade at around 12:45 p.m. (11:45 GMT).

It was the second assasination attempt on the prime minister in two months.
