German technology giant Siemens is expected to sign a major contract with China allowing it to sell its mobile phones throughout the country, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) reported in its Sunday edition. The newspaper said the Munich-based company will close a deal on Tuesday with the Chinese manufacturer Ningbo Bird during Prime Minister Wen Jiabao's official visit to Germany. Currently Siemens is only represented in the largest Chinese cities, but the new agreement would open up the entire country for sales of the German phones. On Tuesday leading companies from both countries will meet at a high-profile bilateral technology forum in Berlin. The FAZ said several other large German companies, such as Bayer, Degussa and Infineon, are expected to sign partnership deals with Chinese firms.
