23/05/08May 23, 2008

At least 16 civilians, including six children, were killed in a roadside blast in northern Sri Lanka on Thursday. The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) accused an army unit of carrying out the attack. But the military denied any involvement. The latest attack came as clashes between government troops and Tamil Tiger rebels, who demand a separate state, intensify.
