Germany’s second largest software producer, Software AG, has latched onto a new trend – exporting good jobs in order to survive. In line with a new business strategy, the Darmstadt-based company is moving its technical support branch to India. Its research and development branch is also going to be downsized. “We can’t rule out layoffs either,” said Software AG head Karl-Heinz Streiblich on Friday, though he didn’t say how many of the company’s employees might be affected. The company has also announced that it intends to concentrate its focus in future on the production of XML-Databases and large capacity computers. Analysts have responded positively to the restructuring measures.
