Germany's troubled Social Democrats are cementing leadership changes they hope will lead them back to power in next year's general election. The party executive is to recall a popular veteran politician to head the SPD and they've put forth Foreign minister Frank Walter Steinmeier as their candidate for chancellor. The SPD hopes these dramatic changes will reverse a trend which has seen their electoral support fall to record lows.
