Talks in Afghanistan about restoring the Buddha statues destroyed by the Taliban

As Afghanistan tries to recover from decades of communism and war, it's also trying to save its cultural heritage: last week, a national park was dedicated in Bamiyan province, a region known for its natural beauty - AND as the former site of giant statues of Buddha carved into a sandstone cliff. In March 2001 the Taliban regime destroyed the two 1500 year old statues, despite international protests. Now, in what may be a sign of returning normality, there's talk of restoring them.
