Ben Taylor founded Daraja, an organization that works toward making local government more responsive in rural Tanzania through two main programs: Maji Matone, which uses mobile phones and radio to give people in rural Tanzania a means to report on broken-down waterpoints; and Kwanza Jamii, a chain of local newspapers holding local government to account. Taylor stepped down from the position of director of Daraja in March 2013. He has 13 years' experience working on development programs in Tanzania and holds an MA from the University of Manchester, UK.
