Tdt:Devastating cyclone in Birma - je 09.05.2008 10 UTC

Kay HagedornMay 9, 2008

Nearly a week after Burma was struck by a devastating cyclone, the extent of the suffering and destruction is still not clear. The UN thinks as many as 100,000 people may have died in the storm and its aftermath. International aid agencies think the number of people without food, water medicines or even a a roof over their heads could be many times that number. But nobody really knows: and Burma's military rulers are doing everything they can to control the flow of information in and out of the country.
