Terror Threat in Germany "Rather Low"

In comparison to the US, Israel or Great Britain, the threat of terrorist attacks on German soil is "rather low," according to Jörg Ziercke, president of Germany's Federal Criminal Police. In an interview to the Mainz-based Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper, Ziercke said that Germany still had to remain vigilant regarding terrorism at home given the fact that over the past three years, authorities had foiled five planned attacks. He said that terrorism would likely remain an issue for Germany for the long term. "When one looks at the radicalization happening in certain circles, one can see that this matter will still concern us decades from now," he told the newspaper. Ziercke called for DNA analysis to become standard procedure for police to use in identification work, since according to him, the success rates of DNA analysis have proven "unbelievably impressive."
