Test it! VW Cross Up!

Carmakers have to be increasingly creative to make sure their models stand out.

Almost every carmaker has started offering SUV versions of many of their models. But now, Volkswagen has given the off-road treatment to an unexpected set of wheels: its smallest, the Up!. The new edition is called the Cross Up!. This is a minicar with a distinctly off-roader air about it. The sporty, rugged look is a product of exclusive exterior elements, while the chassis was given 15 millimeters more ground clearance. But is it nothing more than a design gimmick? Or can the Cross Up! really handle cross country?
