Thai Economy Hard-Hit by Crisis

05/12/08December 5, 2008

Bangkok's main airports finally resumed full operations on Friday after being shut down for eight days. The international airport and the smaller Don Mueang domestic airport witnessed a major blockade by anti-government protestors as part of their ongoing campaign to topple the government. The siege left an estimated 350,000 travellers stranded in Thailand and reportedly cost the tourism and export-dependent economy hundreds of millions of dollars.
