Heels over head
Danish long jumper Daniel Wagner had good reason to do a backflip after having won gold at the World Para Athletics Championships in London.
From horizontal to vertical
Mexico's Jahir Ocampo doesn't look so relaxed as he performs his "siesta." Maybe that is because a nanosecond later he would have to abandon his horizontal position to enter the water as vertical as possible.
Sunny club
Indian golfer Aniban Lahri didn't do so well in Southport, missing the cut for the British Open. However the sun provided evidence of how shiny he keeps his clubs.
Upside down?
This picture of German synchronized swimmer Michelle Zimmer in action makes it appear at first glance as if the photo is upside down. It isn't.
Not just for air
What a good thing it is that bicycle helmets have air holes. On the seventh stage of the Tour de France Belgium's Greg Van Avermaet proved that the holes aren't just there to let the air in.
Color co-ordinated
Sebastian Vettel's red Ferrari fits in perfectly with the backdrop at Spielberg - in the red and white colors of the Austrian flag.
Ball punch
The sweat flies from the hand of Alex Rance as he punches at an Australian football. His hard work was not in vain as his Richmond Tigers beat the GWS Giants 64-45.
Race to the ground
Logan Martin beat his BMX bike to the ground after this failed attempt at a flip at the X Games in Minneapolis.
Out of sync
Maria Coburn and Alison Gibson weren't quite synchronized on this jump from the three-meter board. The two Americans finished in 11th place at the FINA World Championships in Budapest.
Eye on the ball
South African batsman Hashim Amla keeps his eye on the ball during his team's test match against England in Nottingham. South Africa thrashed England by 340 runs in the second test.
Eyes off the ball
Switzerland's Timea Bacsinszky prepares to throw the ball up for a serve during her third round match at Wimbledon against Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland. Radwanska won in three sets.
No points for style
Regas Woods of the United would have earned top marks for style for this jump during the Para Athletics Championships in London. Unfortunately for him, there are no points for style in the long jump and the 36-year-old finished in fifth place.
