In the fully networked house, known as the "smart home", your smartphone becomes a universal remote control. It lets you turn off the bathroom light or turn on the heating when you're not even home. Modern household appliances are also intelligent, and often one step ahead of their owners. An IBM employee lives in such a smart home, just outside of Stuttgart.
